Shenzhen China: sneak peek

Sergio, our Head of Design Engineering, spent the month of March in Shenzhen, China to oversee the Pilot manufacturing. He recently came back to New York for a few days before returning for several months of production and post-production.

Head of Design Engineering Sergio working on production of the Pilot Translation Earpiece[/caption]Sergio went to China for what we call “preliminary production” which consists of finalizing all aspects of manufacturing and product designs. By meeting with manufacturing specialists and engineers on a day-to-day basis, Sergio was able to avoid back and forth communications and speed up the process so we can kick-off production as fast as possible.

Shenzhen has been a very stimulating experience. We have worked with some of the best technology partners in the world and we had meetings with the leading experts in the field of wearables and audio. There is a lot of opportunities and excitement. The progress we have made is very solid and efficient. 

Some of Sergio’s tasks while in China included making final decisions on the components, generate molds, complete all tests and international certifications, produce a small batch of samples for testing, and improve designs of the charger and the packaging.
